A common issue is that you have extraneous sketches on your parts, meaning sketches that don't actually do anything. It's best practice to delete them so that they don't clutter up the model browser one you start working on much more complicated projects. To help you identify them, we made a brief PowerPoint (see below) showing examples from submissions from you guys.

Example 1 on the PowerPoint shows a typical way to identify extraneous sketches. They are generally not under an extrude, revolve, fillet, etc.

Example 2 shows another example of this.

Example 3 shows how some sketches that might look extraneous are actually not.

The last page of the PowerPoint shows a general rule-of-thumb.

I also suggest you go back to your own parts and try to identify them if we mentioned that in your private comments.

If you're on our team, follow these guidelines:

1. You will work on your assignments directly in your folder in the server. This means all parts, assemblies, drawings, etc.

2. When you’re done, just mark the assignment on Google Classroom as done and that will be an indication to us that your assignment in your folder is complete. Don't submit anything to classroom; we will instead just look in your folder

3. Assignments will be looked at by the leaders. We will give feedback on everything you submit

If you're not on our team, since you don't have access to our server and Google Classroom, feel free to come up with your own method of submitting and reviewing assignments.

Everyone gets a little frustrated and annoyed at CAD at times, and everyone needs help at some point along the way. So, keep the following in mind:

1. Watch our tutorial videos as many times as you need! We know this sounds obvious, but perhaps you blanked out for a sec and missed a small but important detail. Watch the videos all you want — it doesn't cost us a penny

2. Watch other tutorial videos from other people. Yes, you read that right. This entire CAD program is 100% planned, organized, and executed — start to finish — solely by a few of our team members. We know we're not perfect. If you feel our videos didn't explain something well enough, or we left something out, definitely check out other videos made by other people — and let us know what we can do better.

3. Read the official Inventor manual. They have some neat stuff there. Click here.

4. If you're on our team, text in the group chat or one of us. If you have a question that you think will benefit others, text in the group chat. Or, just text one of us privately. We're here to help.

The server's great — when it works. Which, luckily, is most of the time. But if and when it causes you trouble, text me (Reid). I'll try my best to fix it.
